Did you know that yesterday was National Compliment Day? Our staff and students shared compliments across the Cougar campus throughout the day and it was such a wonderful way to spend the day!
We'd love to compliment Mr. Mykel Qader, who has been a guest custodian for us for the last two days. He has such a positive attitude and does whatever he can to bring smiles to our Cougar kiddos. He played music over the speaker system during lunches and went out of his way to recognize today's Leader of the Day, who was just a bit nervous during the morning announcements. He has the heart of a leader and we are so thankful for his awesome work at Carmel!

Our Leader of the Day program is hands down one of the best parts of every day! These kiddos are chosen by their teachers for their awesome leadership skills, being amazing friends, and positively contributing to our Cougar community! They help with the morning announcements and lead our entire campus in the Pledge of Allegiance, which is such a treat for us!

HUSD will be closed in olbservance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Schools and the district office will be closed Monday, January 15th 2024 and reopen Tuesday, January 16, 2024.

Mrs. Filleman’s 5th graders were super excited to share which classroom jobs they were hired for to start the new semester. Each scholar completed an application for their desired positions and hire letters went out today. We are confident each kiddo is going to be successful in their new roles!

The Jolly Parade honoring first responders is coming Friday, December 15th starting at Ranchero Middle School and from there going to Cedar and Hesperia Junior High. Come out and join the community for photos with Santa, free candy, and lots more!.

HUSD will be hosting its elementary Smash Brothers Tournament on 12/06/2023 starting at 4PM. The event will be held at the Hesperia Junior High Gymnasium and spectators are welcome! Spectator tickets are $2 per adult and $1 per student. So come out and enjoy some amazing gaming and support our students who are just getting into and learning about the fundamentals of game design and esport career opportunities.
One of our awesome parent volunteers, Mr. Sanders, spent the afternoon today helping our 1st grade Cougars clean up the garden area. They cleared several bags of leaves and trash, and it looks fantastic!
